This Privacy Policy explains how AsOf LLC, a New York limited liability company (“SnapSplit”, “we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, and shares information when you use the SnapSplit mobile application and related services (the “App”). By using the App you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
a. Account information
- Name and email address — when you register directly or use Sign in with Apple / Google.
- Phone number — only if you choose to add one for verification or to receive split requests.
- Password — stored as a one-way bcrypt hash. We never see your plaintext password.
b. Receipt photos and parsed content
When you scan a receipt, the photo is uploaded to our backend and forwarded to OpenAI’s GPT-4o Vision API for line-item extraction. Parsed line items, totals, tax, and tip are stored against your account so you can review and edit them.
c. Contacts (optional)
If you grant Contacts permission, the App reads names and phone numbers from your device address book solely to let you add people to a split. Contact data is stored locally on your device by default. We only transmit a contact’s name and (optionally) their Venmo / Cash App handle to our servers when you save them against a split.
d. Payment-handle information
You may store Venmo and Cash App usernames for yourself and people in your splits. SnapSplit does not process payments and does nothave access to anyone’s bank or card details. Subscription billing is handled directly by Apple.
e. Subscription and purchase data
When you purchase a Subscription, Apple shares your purchase receipt and entitlement state with us via RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider. We use this to grant the correct plan tier and quota.
f. Device and usage information
Standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps, user agent) are collected for security, debugging, and abuse prevention. We do not use this data for advertising and do not sell it.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide the core App functionality: scan receipts, split bills, store split history, and generate per-person totals.
- To authenticate you and protect your account (including SMS verification via Twilio Verify and email one-time codes via Resend, when those features are enabled).
- To process and reconcile your Subscription via RevenueCat.
- To prevent abuse and bots (Cloudflare Turnstile may be used during registration).
- To respond to support requests and to communicate with you about the App.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We share limited information with the following third-party providers, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their service for us:
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store, subscription billing | Apple ID identifier, purchase receipts |
| Sign in with Google (if you choose it) | Google ID token (email, name) | |
| OpenAI | Receipt OCR via GPT-4o Vision API | Receipt photos uploaded for parsing |
| RevenueCat | Subscription state and entitlement management | User identifier, purchase receipts |
| Twilio | Phone-number verification (Twilio Verify) | Phone number, SMS code |
| Resend | Email delivery (verification, login codes) | Email address, message contents |
| Cloudflare | Turnstile bot-prevention CAPTCHA on signup | IP address, browser fingerprint |
Each of these providers operates under their own privacy policy. We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we do not share your data with advertisers.
4. Data Retention
We keep your account information and split history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete the associated personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records related to Subscription purchases) or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses (such as Contacts) at any time, by changing iOS permission settings.
- Opt out of non-essential communications.
Depending on where you live (e.g., the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights such as data portability or the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@asofproducts.com.
6. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your information: encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit, bcrypt password hashing, signed JWT session tokens, and role-restricted access to production systems. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected users of any data breach as required by applicable law.
7. Children’s Privacy
SnapSplit is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
SnapSplit operates from the United States. If you access the App from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the U.S. by us and our service providers. By using the App you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
